The Midwives
Jordan McCart, LM, CPM
I moved to California twelve years ago to start a new journey— this journey leading to my discovery of midwifery. I spent many years working in a hospital, caring deeply for my patients, but ultimately knew I wanted to help women bring their babies earthside— in a setting that allowed women more control over their bodies, their environment and their birth. Thus, I began my midwifery journey with my enrollment at the National College of Midwifery (NCM).
I apprenticed for four years at a high volume birth center in Los Angeles. During my final days as a student midwife, I traveled to Shiphrah Birthing Home in Taytay Rizal, Philippines, for the opportunity to attend mothers and babies in need.
I graduated from NCM and passed the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) written examination of academic knowledge and, thus, I was granted the title of Certified Professional Midwife (CPM). I am also licensed by the state of California as a Licensed Midwife (LM), and am governed by the Medical Board of California.
After my achievements, I continued serving at the high volume birth center in Los Angeles, now as a full fledged midwife, and have done so for the last three and a half years. In this position, I provided prenatal care, labor & delivery, and postpartum support services.
And now the time has arrived for me to pursue my dreams of having my own practice as a midwife.
Roam Midwifery was born in the shared dreams of myself and Stephanie in supporting women, babies, and families.
While not working or dedicating my time to education and research to help support the women of my community, I love spending time with my husband, Ben, and my dog, Opie. I also enjoy going to the beach, hiking, traveling, and getting together with family.

The clear calling to midwifery came only after becoming a mother myself. It was during my first pregnancy that I started envisioning what my labor, birth, and postpartum would be. However, it soon became clear the numerous shortcomings of the standard maternity care that I received during my pregnancy. It was in this space that I decided to make a change by partnering with women in their care. It was in this space, that I came to know the innate strength and wisdom of women and mothers.
I received my nurse midwifery education and training from Frontier Nursing University. My expertise encompasses prenatal care, labor and birth support, postpartum support, breastfeeding guidance, and newborn care. My licensure in nurse midwifery follows my experience as a labor & delivery and postpartum registered nurse in community hospitals in the Los Angeles area over the last several years.
I have been blessed with two sons and two wildly different birth experiences. While my older son was born in the hospital setting with an epidural, my youngest son was born at home unexpectedly into the arms of my husband. And with this, I realized that every pregnancy and birth are unique, each deserving the best support possible.
I wholeheartedly embrace the transformative power of pregnancy, childbirth, and of life. Let’s walk this journey together.
